How long do I have to complete my challenge / When should I do my challenge?
We want everyone to start their challenge in September – ideally by 26th September which is our 35th birthday, with 1-day challenges taking place on that date if possible. Challenges can be completed by 15th of November (so it doesn’t clash with any planned festivities), but the timing is really up to you.
Can anyone get involved?
Anyone and everyone is encouraged to take on their own Challenge 35!
This challenge can be tailored to each and every individual, or be done as a group – there are no limits to what can be done!
We encourage people of all ages to take part in this challenge – anyone under the age of 18 should have an adult accompanying them at all times during a fundraising activity.
Can we take part as a team?
Yes absolutely! In which case, we recommend one person takes on the role of setting up and managing the fundraising page. Everyone should share and encourage donations though!
How much does it cost to take part?
There is no registration fee to take part in Challenge 35 – we just ask everyone to set up a Just Giving page and raise as much money as they can for the Chilterns MS Centre. Alternatively you are welcome to visit our main charity JustGiving page – https://www.justgiving.com/chilternsmsc - to make a donation directly to our charity rather than take on your own challenge
How do I raise money?
Use this website to set up a Just Giving page – this is the quickest and easiest way to raise money for the Chilterns MS Centre. With an online page, all you have to do is share the link and everyone can give as much as they want to, quickly and easily, from wherever they are, and the money raised gets automatically sent to the Charity.
Get in touch with our fundraising team if you’d like us to email you an offline sponsor form also, but we strongly recommend everyone sets up an online page.
You can also add any offline sponsorship money into your Just Giving page so all of your money is in one handy place and you and your supporters can see the total amount you have raised. Simply click the link to 'add offline donation' on your page.
However you raise the money, don’t forget to spread the word amongst your family, friends and colleagues and ask them to sponsor you.
Is there a minimum amount of money I need to raise?
We haven’t set minimum fundraising targets on challenge 35 because we are encouraging everyone to raise as much as they can. If you can raise £35, £350, or £3,500, we’re grateful for all your support to help us keep our Charity going.
Why not get 35 people to sponsor you £3.50 each, or get sponsored per activity (e.g. £1 per KM you walk)? However you do it is up to you!
The Chilterns MS Centre was hit very hard by the coronavirus pandemic so every penny raised will be vital to the future of the charity.
How does the Chilterns MS Centre get the money?
If you have set up a Just Giving page through this website, the money you raise on that page will automatically get sent to the Chilterns MS Centre.
It is transferred regularly to the charity, without you needing to do anything.
Will you be able to claim Gift Aid on my sponsorship money?
Yes! Just Giving will collect the details of your sponsors if they wish to agree to Gift Aid and claims the additional money back on our behalf. Please encourage as many of your sponsors to agree to Gift Aid if they are a UK taxpayer as we can receive 25p in every £1 donated at no extra cost. That means a £10 donation will be £12.50 to the charity.
If you collect sponsorship using our offline form please ask your sponsors to complete their details and allow us to claim Gift Aid on their donations.
Do I need a Just Giving account to set up an online giving page?
Yes, you’ll need a Just Giving Account to set up a Just Giving page, however this is quick and easy to do. You can do this at the same time as setting up your page.
If you don’t want to use Just Giving you are welcome to visit our website – www.chilternsmscentre.org/donate - to make a donation directly or to pay in all of your offline sponsorship money.
Can I update my page with my progress?
Absolutely – we encourage it! It has been proven that if you keep your sponsors updated on your progress, you will raise more money for your chosen charity.
You can update the ‘story’ section on your page through your account with pictures and text. If you’re doing a fitness challenge then you can also link your Just Giving page to your Strava account!
How do I connect my Fundraising Page to Strava?
Login to your JustGiving account and view the Fundraising Page you wish to connect with. Scroll down slightly on your Fundraising Page and select the ‘Connect Strava’ button.
You’ll then need to login to or register with Strava (it's free!). We also do not charge anything to use this functionality
Finally, confirm some Strava permissions and select and save your fitness settings/preferences.
Do I have to log my fitness / Why is there a ‘log fitness’ section?
If you’re doing a fitness challenge then you can use the ‘log fitness’ section to record your activity and this will be updated on your page. This is optional and a great way of keeping your sponsors engaged.
If you’re not doing a fitness challenge, you can just ignore the ‘log fitness’ section as this doesn’t apply to your activity (it is optional). Instead, you can post updates of pictures and text onto your page to keep your sponsors engaged.
Can I add fitness activity from my FitBit or Garmin device?
You can sync your device with Strava, so that all fitness activities you do using your FitBit/Garmin will show in your Strava account, which can then automatically appear on Fundraising Pages you have connected.
At this moment in time however, you do need a Strava account (it’s free!) to show fitness activities on your JustGiving Fundraising Pages. But Strava does integrate with most of the fitness devices available today.
Help! I have a question that isn’t on this list…
No problem! Email the fundraising team and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can!
